LOMBARD – Glen Ellyn-area food pantries are newly stocked with fresh produce, thanks to State Rep. Terra Costa Howard, D-Glen Ellyn, and Illinois Farm Bureau Manager Lindsay McQueen.

“I first met Lindsay McQueen through the Illinois Farm Bureau’s ‘Adopt-A-Legislator’ program, which connects suburban legislators with downstate farmers,” Costa Howard said. “When Lindsay heard I was hosting a food drive, she drove three hours to deliver a carload of fresh farm produce for our local food pantries. I can’t thank the Farm Bureau enough for their generosity and friendship to our communities.”

Costa Howard’s food drive, held last week at Ackerman Sports and Fitness Center in Glen Ellyn, offered contactless donation, with volunteers taking donations directly from donors’ cars. Costa Howard has hosted a number of food drives over the past few months, as part of her many efforts to support the community during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I am so proud that Lindsay and our neighbors joined forces to make this food drive such a success,” Costa Howard said. “Our food pantries are helping local families to keep food on the table during these incredibly difficult times. We’re all in this together, and I know that we can count on the people of the 48th District to keep on helping out, pitching in, and lifting up our neighbors as long as this pandemic continues.”
