CHICAGO, Ill. – To help residents protect themselves from identity thieves, state Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago, recently hosted a free community shred day.

“Protecting your financial information from scammers and other bad actors is just one way to help safeguard your financial health,” said Hurley. “Providing this important service to the community is important to me, as shredding old documents like bank statements and other bills is an easy way to keep your personal information safe.”

Hurley is pictured with Alderman O’Shea and volunteers at her recent community shred day. As a part of her continued work to provide helpful services to community residents, Hurley is partnering with Sen. Bill Cunningham to host another free community shred day on Friday, Aug. 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Merrionette Park Police Department, located at 11750 S. Kedzie Ave. There is a two box limit per car.
