Moylan Highlights Newly Available Child Care Restoration Grants

DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan is encouraging licensed child care providers who have experienced revenue loss due to the COVID-19 public health crisis to apply for financial relief under a $270 million child care relief program.

“Child care businesses throughout the state have experienced significant economic challenges during the pandemic, and these funds have been set aside to directly support those businesses,” Moylan said. “It is crucial to mitigate the financial impact on child care providers so that they can continue operating and families can obtain quality care for their children.”

$270 million was set aside by the General Assembly from Coronavirus Urgent Remediation Emergency (CURE) funds to support child care providers in response to the pandemic. The grants will be administered by the Illinois Network of Child Care Resources and Referral Agencies (INCCRRA) in association with the Department of Human Services (DHS) and the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO). Licensed child care providers who can demonstrate an interruption to their business caused by the COVID-19 crisis are encouraged to apply. Applications are open until July 24. “The economic downturn brought on by the COVID-19 crisis is extremely unfortunate, but the developmental care and education of our children is crucial to their future and the future of our state, and we have to make sure they can get the care they need,” Moylan said. “These grants will hopefully help child care providers keep their businesses running and get back to helping the children of our state.”
