DECATUR, Ill. – State Rep. Sue Scherer, D-Decatur is highlighting the new Illinois Get Hired website for workers looking for employment – including those displaced by the COVID-19 pandemic and economic downturn – and for businesses looking to hire new employees.

“Unfortunately, the pandemic has caused many Illinoisans to be misplaced from work and most are struggling to find employment,” said Scherer. “This website allows for many businesses to post openings that can be easily found by workers looking for jobs.”

Scherer is encouraging jobseekers and employers to take advantage of Illinois’ new Get Hired website, at https://www2.illinois.gov/gethired/. With over 60,000 available job opportunities featured, the site allows companies looking to hire to post job openings online and search resumes, and gives those looking for jobs a resource to find a number of opportunities in their area and take advantage of virtual job fairs.

“We are still very much in the middle of some very difficult times, but I want to make sure people know relief and opportunities are still out there,” said Scherer. “Get Hired Illinois is a critical tool in helping employers recover and helping working families rebuild, so I encourage jobseekers to take advantage of this resource.”
