BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. – This session, state Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, supported a piece of legislation to expand access to health care resources through telehealth services.

“As a result of this unprecedented health crisis, many Illinoisans have been unable to visit their healthcare provider face-to-face,” said Pappas. “Expanding telehealth services is a crucial step we can take to help contain the spread of this pandemic and protect the public health.”

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak, Pappas supported Senate Bill 671 to expand coverage for telehealth services for Illinois residents. This measure would require health insurance agencies to cover telehealth services and other forms of telecommunications available through in-network providers.

“Illinoisans need additional avenues for accessing medical care, including phone, webinar and other digital media,” Pappas said. “To build a stronger Illinois, we must work to ensure everyone has equal access to comprehensive, affordable health care.”
