BUFFALO GROVE, Ill. – State Rep. Daniel Didech, D-Buffalo Grove, sponsored a measure, Senate Bill 1863, that seeks to expand access to voting and safeguard the public health as the state works to recover from the COVID-19 outbreak.
“As we continue to work toward reopening Illinois, it is imperative that we take the necessary steps to safeguard the public health of Illinois voters,” said Didech. “Providing additional voting accommodations will give Illinois residents the freedom and protection they need to vote in the upcoming election.”
Continuing his commitment to the public health, Didech recently co-sponsored Senate Bill 1863, which strives to expand access to voting and ensure everyone can safely participate in the November election. This measure expands ‘vote by mail’ options and gives local election authorities the flexibility to create special voting hours for senior citizens and provide curbside voting options. The bill passed the House and Senate chambers with bipartisan support and was sent to Governor Pritzker’s desk to be signed into law.

“This measure will provide the resources and support we need to strengthen our democracy and keep our state moving forward,” Didech said. “In order to build a stronger and more equitable Illinois, we must work together to ensure every voice is heard this November.”
