DES PLAINES, Ill. – Looking to provide resources and services to residents in need, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is announcing he will host a community shred day event on Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Acuity Brands (formerly Juno Lighting Group) parking lot, located at 1300 S. Wolf Rd. in Des Plaines.

“I want to help residents protect their personal and financial information and provide them with a secure way to do so,” Moylan said. “We also want everyone to remain safe during the COVID-19 crisis, so we are handing out free face masks at the event and observing social distancing recommendations.”

This is a free community event for residents wishing to dispose of any documents containing any sensitive information such as social security or bank account numbers. Moylan asks that residents remain in their vehicles to observe social distancing. Someone will collect the documents each resident wishes to shred. Free protective face masks will also be offered to those who attend the event.

“I encourage any resident who needs sensitive documents safely disposed of, or anyone who needs a face mask to take advantage of this very useful event,” Moylan said. “You can never be too careful with your sensitive personal information and this service is a very safe and secure method to dispose of these documents.”
