LOMBARD, Ill. – Furthering efforts to encourage volunteerism and bring help to constituents during the COVID-19 pandemic, state Rep. Terra Costa Howard, D-Glen Ellyn, will host a food drive on Wednesday, June 17, at Yorktown Center and the First Church of Lombard.

“I have been so proud of the way that the people of our community have stepped up to help their neighbors during this crisis,” Costa Howard said. “We need to keep on providing assistance to those in need while we start to get back on our feet. If you are able to donate, please bring some non-perishable items, such as peanut butter, pasta, rice, and canned soup, fruit, beans, tuna, or vegetables. Your contribution can make a real difference for a family that’s struggling through this difficult time.”

Costa Howard’s food drive will be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Yorktown Center, Suites 24 and 48, and from 4 to 7 p.m. in Hatfield Hall of the First Church of Lombard, at 220 S. Main St. in Lombard.

The food drive will be held concurrently with a blood drive by the Village of Yorktown and the Versiti Blood Center of Illinois. To schedule an appointment to give blood, or for more information on future blood drives, please visit https://www.villageoflombard.org/402/Blood-Drives.

“Whether you’re donating food or giving blood, you are making an important contribution to people in our communities,” Costa Howard said. “I look forward to another strong showing of community support by the people of the 48th District.”

If you are unable to attend the food drive but would still like to donate, please contact Costa Howard’s office at 630-812-9494 or email RepTCH48@gmail to arrange a porch pickup. All food donations will benefit Lombard-area food pantries.
