DES PLAINES, Ill. – State Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is highlighting an upcoming small business resource webinar from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity’s (DCEO) Office of Minority Economic Empowerment (OMEE) aimed at helping local business through the COVID-19 health crisis.

“This pandemic has hit everyone hard, especially the small business owners of our communities,” Moylan said. “Our state’s agencies have directed their full attention toward delivering resources to businesses facing new challenges, and this webinar serves as another opportunity for local businesses to learn about what is available to them.”

The OMEE webinar is scheduled for Wednesday, May 20 at 2 p.m. This webinar will cover federal and state resources available to small businesses amid the COVID-19 crisis. While OMEE focuses on specific communities, particularly people of color, women, the disabled, veterans and other historically disadvantaged communities, all are welcome to participate. Residents can register for the webinar and submit questions at https://forms.office.com/Pages/ResponsePage.aspx?id=nwgia7qOPEaE9TFxIQ-QBVycEpn70gJNq5YHAOtDJMVUMENLWFkyV1JTSEtFTVZDT01BVzNXRThKNSQlQCN0PWcu.

“Even if a business is unable to participate, I encourage them to reach out to my office and we can help connect them with available resources and answer questions,” Moylan said. “Small businesses are the backbone of our economy and we need to do everything we can to support them through these unprecedented times.”

Residents with concerns about COVID-19 are encouraged to call the Illinois Department of Public Health’s hotline at 1-800-889-3931 or email DPH.SICK@ILLINOIS.GOV. To stay up to date with all new information about COVID-19, visit coronavirus.illinois.gov.
