BLOOMINGDALE, Ill. – State Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, is promoting the state’s official Wi-Fi hotspot map to help ensure every student has reliable internet access during the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.

“Due to this unprecedented health crisis, Illinois students have had to transition to online learning, and not everyone has access to a reliable internet connection,” said Pappas. “I encourage students and parents to use this resource to help them finish the school year on a strong note.”

Pappas is promoting the new Wi-Fi hotspot map available through the state of Illinois. With the recent announcement that schools will be closed for the remainder of the year, reliance on remote learning will increase, and not all young people have reliable internet access at home. The state has launched a Wi-Fi hotspots map to help students who do not have internet access at home to help them participate in e-learning. “While this is a critical step, I also recognize there remains a lot of work to be done to ensure every family has access to the internet,” Pappas said. “No matter the circumstances, every student deserves the resources and support they need to obtain a quality education.”

Residents can stay informed on developments with the COVID-19 pandemic by reviewing the State of Illinois website at www.coronavirus.illinois.gov. Pappas encourages residents who need help navigating services to contact her district office at 224-520-8838 or RepDPappas@gmail.com.
