CHICAGO – State Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, is encouraging local residents to help ensure their neighbors have access to food and other essential items by donating non-perishable food and hygiene products to the local food pantry at Redeeming Grace Church.

“Although many of the businesses and organizations in our communities are closed due to COVID-19, there are still many hardworking people continuing to operate our food pantries,” said Slaughter. “It’s up to all of us to continue to support local pantries as they continue their mission to keep local families fed in these tough times.”

Slaughter is encouraging community members who are able to donate non-perishable foods, toiletries and other household essentials to Redeeming Grace Church, located at 11801 S. Sangamon St. The food pantry is open to accept donations on Fridays from 11 a.m.  until 2 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.  The food pantry is also open to those looking for food on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m.

“It’s absolutely critical that we all do our part to recognize and continue to help the most vulnerable in our communities through acts of charity and kindness,” said Slaughter. “I am truly thankful for the hard work that the staff of these food pantries continues to do in these uncertain times.
