SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Diane Pappas, D-Itasca, is promoting the many stores across Illinois that have specially designated hours for seniors and other high-risk individuals to shop while avoiding potentially dangerous crowds.
“During the COVID-19 outbreak, seniors and other people in high-risk populations face greater danger when leaving their homes than most,” Pappas said. “Many Illinois businesses are specifically designating shopping hours for those groups, and I urge any high-risk individual to take advantage of the opportunity to shop during these special times.”
Many stores have devoted hours early in the morning for seniors and members of high-risk groups to avoid crowds and reduce the possibility of COVID-19 infections. Those interested in finding out about where and when these hours are available can go to http://irma.org/COVID-19-senior-shopping/.
“I want everyone in our community to remain as safe as possible while this outbreak is managed,” Pappas said. “Observing precautions like specialized hours, in addition to social distancing, will limit the spread of the virus, and help life return to normal as soon as possible. I’m grateful for all the stores taking this safety measure.”
