RED BUD, Ill. – State Rep. Nathan Reitz, D-Steeleville, is promoting an Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) program, Call4Calm, to assist Illinoisans who may face added stress, anxiety, or mental health issues due to COVID-19.

“The COVID-19 pandemic is putting significant new stress on many people, including our medical professionals, essential employees, emergency service providers, and their families, and it’s critical that they get the assistance they may need with these issues,” Reitz said. “While we combat the physical impact of the disease and the economic toll it is placing on local business, we can’t forget side effects that accompany for many working on the frontlines and their loved ones.”

As part of his continued effort to mitigate the side effects of COVID-19, Reitz is promoting a free-of-charge, anonymous emotional support text line, Call4Calm, launched by the Illinois Department of Human Services’ Mental Health Division. Individuals who would like to speak with a mental health professional can text “TALK” to 552020.

“This is a great resource for those who may be suffering from additional stress or anxiety due to this pandemic,” said Reitz. “I encourage anyone in our community to take advantage of this resource as we continue to do everything possible to keep ourselves, our loved ones, and our emergency and essential workers safe.”
