CHICAGO – To increase accessibility to government resources and public health information, State Rep. Lindsey LaPointe, D-Chicago, and Senator Rob Martwick, D-Chicago, are reminding local residents about their remote office services and assistance available during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Although the Senator and I have closed our district office locations at this time, we are continuing to work every day to connect local residents with various city, state and federal resources during this challenging time,” LaPointe said. “I strongly encourage people to reach out to us by phone or by email if they need updated and accurate information about COVID19, would like information on available resources, or if there are any other concerns that my office can help with.”

LaPointe and Martwick are reminding residents that their offices remain accessible while the stay-at-home order is in place and they are urging people to reach out with questions or concerns related to COVID-19. Resources and services available through their offices include, but are not limited to, helping with unemployment insurance; assistance with securing food, applications for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly known as food stamps); assistance with Medicaid applications; rent and housing assistance; and general questions about health and safety. Residents can contact LaPointe’s office by calling 773-647-1174 or emailing RepLaPointe@gmail.com. Senator Martwick’s office can be reached at 773 286-1115 or by email at info@senatormartwick.com

“My office has worked to reach as many people as possible through email, social media and by phone, but I understand that not everyone has access to the same technology,” LaPointe said. “We encourage community residents to share this information with their neighbors who may not have access to technology or online information, and to check in with those people by phone.”

Residents can also stay informed on developments with the COVID-19 pandemic by reviewing information provided on the State of Illinois’ exclusive website coronavirus.illinois.gov.
