SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – In an effort to streamline access to critical services for communities in need during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic, state Rep. Michelle Mussman, D-Schaumburg, is highlighting the Illinois Department of Human Services’ (IDHS) new “Help is Here” hotline and website feature.

“With many people experiencing job loss, reduced income and other financial hardships, it is important that a comprehensive resource exists to make it easier for residents to get the help they need from the state,” Mussman said. “I applaud the actions taken by IDHS to make state resources more accessible for the people of Illinois.”

Over the weekend, the IDHS announced a new website feature that can help Illinois residents find the resources they need in one central location. Mussman is encouraging those in need of assistance to utilize the website or hotline to find help with food security, medical and mental health care, housing, domestic violence and other issues. These services can be accessed by visiting dhs.illinois.gov/helpishere or calling 1-833-234-6353.

“I will continue to emphasize the importance of coming together as a community every step of the way as we face the COVID-19 pandemic together,” Mussman said. “I encourage anyone in need of help during these unprecedented circumstances to visit the ‘Help is Here’ website or call the hotline to apply for assistance with IDHS.”

Mussman represents the 56th District, which contains portions of Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Roselle, Rolling Meadows and Palatine.
