AURORA, Ill. – State Rep. Barbara Hernandez, D-Aurora, is promoting a new website feature and hotline from the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) to help streamline access to services for those in need of assistance during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“There is a lot of great information and services available to Illinois residents, but it can be sometimes overwhelming to find the specific information you are looking for,” said Hernandez. “The Illinois Department of Human Services made a new ‘Help is Here’ website feature and hotline for families in need to access information on state resources available to them all in one place.”

Hernandez is encouraging residents to visit the IDHS Help is Here website at Dhs.illinois.gov/helpishere or call the toll-free hotline at 1-833-2-FIND-HELP (1-833-234-6343) for assistance with accessing housing, health care, food security, mental health and substance use services. Assistance for home services like child care, senior and youth services and domestic violence services are also available.

“As the COVID-19 pandemic creates an uncertain future for many across Illinois and here in our community, it is critical that families in need are able to access the vital resources available to them,” said Hernandez. “I encourage those seeking help during this crisis to visit the ‘Help is Here’ website, call the hotline or reach out to my office for help navigating these resources.”
