ROUND LAKE BEACH, Ill. – With the COVID-19 outbreak negatively impacting families and businesses across the state, state Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, is highlighting the decision to push the state tax filing deadline back from April 15 to July 15 as part of an effort to support middle-class families during the pandemic.

“With so many taxpayers hurt financially by this virus, pushing the filing deadline back will bring much-needed relief to working families,” said Yingling. “I applaud the Governor’s decision to extend the deadline, and look forward to finding additional solutions to support those impacted by this pandemic.”

With the decision to move Illinois’s tax deadline back, both Illinois’s filing deadline and the federal government’s filing deadline are now July 15. During the pandemic, Yingling has made it a priority to bring vital information to residents to help ease the burden that is being caused by the virus. Raising awareness on the new filing deadline is just one way that he is working to bring relevant information to community members.

“In crises such as these, making sure that everyone is equipped with accurate information is a major step in maximizing relief efforts,” said Yingling. “As new information and relief efforts are put into place, I will continue to work to keep everyone as updated as possible.”

For any general questions about COVID-19 and Illinois’ response and guidance, Yingling is encouraging residents to reach out to the Illinois Department of Public Health at 1-800-889-3931 or Dph.Sick@Illinois.gov.
