SCHAUMBURG, Ill. – To share increased resources for residents that are most vulnerable to Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), state Rep. Michelle Mussman, D-Schaumburg, is highlighting senior shopping hours at local grocery stores.

“While we each should be taking the COVID-19 outbreak seriously and doing our due diligence to help stop the spread of this disease, some residents in our community like seniors, expectant mothers and those with underlying health conditions are at more serious risk,” said Mussman. “To encourage social distancing and to ensure seniors and others at-risk are able to get the groceries and other supplies they need in the coming weeks, many local stores are hosting special shopping hours just for seniors and other vulnerable residents.”

Senior shopping hours are specially designated shopping times for seniors and other vulnerable populations. Mussman is highlighting senior shopping hours at the following local grocery stores:
● Aldi, located at 905 Meacham Rd. in Elk Grove Village from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays
● Mariano’s, located at 2575 W. Golf Rd. in Hoffman Estates from 6 to 8 a.m. daily
● Target, located at 1235 E. Higgins Rd. and 2621 W. Schaumburg Rd. in Schaumburg from 7 to 8 a.m. daily

“I encourage seniors and other vulnerable residents to take advantage of the senior shopping hours at local grocery stores to protect yourself and maintain social distancing,” continued Mussman. “I also urge other residents to check-in on their neighbors that are seniors or have underlying health conditions during this difficult time to see if they need help getting groceries or other supplies. Now is an important time to come together and look out for each other because we are all in this together.”

Mussman represents the 56th District, which contains portions of Schaumburg, Hoffman Estates, Elk Grove Village, Hanover Park, Roselle, Rolling Meadows and Palatine.
