RED BUD, Ill. – State Rep. Nathan Reitz, D-Steeleville, is highlighting senior shopping hours at local grocery stores across Southern Illinois to help protect seniors and other vulnerable residents during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) outbreak.

“Seniors and folks with underlying health conditions like heart disease and diabetes are at most risk of having serious complications should they contract COVID-19,” said Reitz. “Thankfully,
local grocery stores are hosting special shopping hours for seniors and other at-risk residents to help protect them from this potentially fatal disease.”

Senior shopping hours are specially designated shopping times for seniors and other vulnerableresidents. Reitz is highlighting senior shopping hours at the following local grocery stores:
● Aldi, located at 1233 Camp Jackson Rd. in Cahokia and 1250 N. Market St. in Sparta from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays
● Red Bud IGA, located at 1010 S. Main St. from 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. daily
● Schnuck’s, located at 1000 Columbia Center in Columbia and 150 Waterloo Commons in Waterloo from 6 a.m. to 7 a.m. daily
● Steeleville Marketplace, located at 306 W. Broadway from 7 to 8 a.m. daily.

“I encourage seniors and others with underlying health conditions to take advantage of senior shopping hours,” continued Reitz. “Other residents should also use this time to check in on your
older family members and neighbors to help them with their shopping to make sure they have the groceries, prescriptions and other supplies they may need in the coming weeks.”
