LIBERTYVILLE, Ill. – Following state and national health guidelines, state Rep. Mary Edly-Allen, D-Libertyville, has cancelled her “Mary on the Matters” event scheduled for Monday, March 23 at the Ela Public Library. Edly-Allen encourages residents to contact her district office at 224-206-7647 or RepEdlyAllen@gmail.com to discuss any state issue or receive assistance on a state-related matter.
“I am following CDC guidelines on social distancing and encourage local residents to take these guidelines seriously. Out of caution for the medically vulnerable in our community, I am canceling my Mary on the Matters March event,” said Edly-Allen. “Remaining accessible to my constituents particularly during this challenging time remains my top priority. My staff and I will be working remotely as much as possible and are closing my Libertyville and Springfield offices to outside visitors. We remain fully accessible by phone and email, and ready to serve the people of the 51st District. I appreciate the community’s understanding for the postponement of my community events for the foreseeable future.”
In the meantime, Edly-Allen encourages that all residents follow the CDC health guidelines which include social distancing, keeping six feet or more away from other people and frequent hand washing using soap for at least 20 seconds. The Illinois Department of Public Health is publishing regular updates at dph.illinois.gov and additional questions may be directed to them at 800-899-3931 or DPH.SICK@illinois.gov.
“You do not have to show symptoms of COVID-19 to be a carrier for the virus, and it’s important that we all do our part to reduce the spread of the disease,” said Edly-Allen. “Please help out by checking on your elderly neighbors and those who have underlying preconditions or compromised immune systems.”
