SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – In response to the COVID-19 outbreak which is forcing small businesses, restaurants, bars and other establishments to temporarily close their doors to the public, state Rep. Kathleen Willis, D-Northlake, is highlighting resources available to help businesses and workers secure assistance.

“Small and locally owned and operated businesses are the lifeblood of our community,” Willis said. “The new reality facing these businesses and workers is a devastating blow to our economy, and we are doing everything in our power to facilitate access to assistance in coordination with the federal government.”

Willis is encouraging small businesses impacted by COVID-19 to submit information to the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity (DCEO), which is working in consultation with the U.S. Small Business Administration to offer financial assistance during this unprecedented public health crisis.

“The situation surrounding the COVID-19 outbreak is fluid, and guidance from local, state, and federal officials and public health experts is changing by the day,” said Willis. “I am committed to pursuing all available options to leverage resources for businesses and workers to withstand the economic impact of this crisis.”For more information or additional resources, please contact Rep. Willis’ district office at (708) 562-6970 or email repwillis77@gmail.com.
