“Every day I receive calls from constituents all across the community feeling unsure, concerned, and sometimes even frightened by the prospect of a COVID-19 outbreak in our area,” Yingling said. “I want to take a second to do my best to put some of those concerns to rest. Taking proactive steps like making a household plan can help protect your health, and the health of those you care about. It is so important to follow CDC guidelines for personal health and home-based habits.”
The Illinois Department of Public Health recommends avoiding close contact with people who are sick, staying home if you feel sick except to get medical care, cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue, clean frequently touched surfaces (such as tables, countertops, light switches, doorknobs, etc.), and washing hands often for at least 20 seconds. If soap is not readily available, utilize hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol.
“Practicing preventative actions are the best way to keep you and your families safe in these times of uncertainty,” Yingling said. “It is vital to stay prepared, stay safe, and stay clean to stay healthy.”
