LOMBARD, Ill. – State Rep. Terra Costa Howard, D-Glen Ellyn, is inviting working women to a free salary negotiation strategy and skill-building workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 16 at Innovation DuPage, in the Glen Ellyn Civic Center at 535 Duane St.

“We are well aware of the documented unfairness that women face in the workforce, most notably when it comes to the gender pay gap,” Costa Howard said. “This workshop aims to empower women by providing useful tips on negotiating salary and benefits, whether they’re getting a new job or trying to improve their current compensation package. Women Employed has been on the frontlines fighting for equal pay for years, and I am thrilled to be hosting this workshop with them.”

The workshop is facilitated by Women Employed, an advocacy group that seeks to improve the economic status of women and remove barriers to full economic equity. The presentations will include an overview of state laws that promote equal pay for women in Illinois.

“So often, women in the workforce feel isolated and unprepared when they try to advocate for themselves,” Costa Howard said. “With this workshop, we’re letting working women know that they’re not alone, and that Illinois advocates and lawmakers are working hard to fight pay unfairness and help all women get the full paychecks they deserve.”
