“Agriculture is the foundation of our state’s economy, and I will continue to work to keep agriculture as the top industry in Illinois,” Reitz said. “I am currently working on legislation to expand education opportunities in the agriculture field so the next generation of Illinois farmers can build up the skills they need to work sustainable, good-paying jobs. I’m grateful to the Illinois Leadership Council for Agricultural Education for their recognition of my efforts to help farming.”
ILCAE is an advocacy group focused on legislation, funding, and promotion of agricultural education and serves as an advisory council for the initiatives of the Agricultural Education line item. Reitz spsonored Senate Bill 1498, a new law which provides grants to help students becoming teachers in the agriculture field. He is also sponsoring House Bill 5200 to create an income tax credit supporting new farmers.
