ARLINGTON HEIGHTS, Ill. – With news that one of Illinois’ latest coronavirus patients is being treated at Northwest Community Hospital (NCH) in Arlington Heights, state Rep. Mark Walker, D-Arlington Heights, is encouraging residents to focus on habits to stay healthy.

“It’s unfortunate that we’re seeing the coronavirus spread further into our communities,” Walker said. “However, I trust that our excellent medical teams at NCH will be able to safely quarantine and this patient. It’s encouraging to see that the hospital is coordinating with state and federal health agencies to monitor the ongoing treatment. And I’m glad to hear that the patient and his wife, who has also been effected, are in good condition.

“In the meantime, we all need to make a commitment to healthy practices to fight illness. To fight illnesses like COVID-19 and the flu, the Centers for Disease Control recommends washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth, stay home if you are sick and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.

“If you believe you have the respiratory illnesses common to coronavirus like fever, cough, shortness of breath or respiratory distress, be sure to contact your doctor immediately. For more information on the coronavirus and tips to stay healthy, please visit the Illinois Dept. of Public Health’s website at www.dph.illinois.gov. I extend my best wishes to the patients in Arlington Heights and hope all who have contracted this virus make a full recovery.”
