“This is an opportunity for students to explore different areas of civic engagement throughout history and present day. It’s meant to encourage diversity, inclusivity and togetherness while providing children an outlet to express themselves creatively,” said Mason. “I am excited to see the innovative artwork that students create while addressing our theme of public action.”
All students between kindergarten and high school are invited to participate in Mason’s civic engagement poster contest. Posters should reflect civic engagement and they can be created with any materials the students want to use. Submissions must be emailed to info@repjoycemason.com or mailed to 36100 Brookside Dr., Suite LL 60 in Gurnee by Tuesday, March 31 to be included in the contest. The winners for each age group will be announced in April.
“I look forward to seeing what everyone will create and what civic engagement means to you,” said Mason. “As a mother, I know how important an outlet of expression is to children and this is my way of encouraging creativity while raising awareness about how to make a difference in our community.”
