SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Kathleen Willis, D-Northlake, is encouraging residents and jobseekers to participate in the 2020 U.S. Census.

“The 2020 census is critical to the future of our community, as well as communities across the state and throughout the country. It is important to make sure everyone is counted to ensure that we get our fair share of funding for programs our families care about like schools, roads and public safety,” Willis said. “This census will fundamentally shape how financial resources are allocated over the next ten years and could impact our representation in Congress.

The U.S. Census Bureau will begin distributing letters and forms to all households next month inviting them to participate in the 2020 census by phone, via mail or online. The bureau is also filling part-time positions to help in the process of getting people counted in the census. Those interested in employment opportunities are encouraged to apply online at https://2020census.gov/en/jobs.html.

“I especially want to encourage jobseekers to consider applying for good-paying census taker positions available through the U.S. Census Bureau,” Willis said. “In order to get everyone counted, the bureau is actively filling positions through the spring. I want to make every effort to ensure people are participating and taking advantage of opportunities that are available through the U.S. Census Bureau.”
