“When our state is making purchases, we should always be making every effort to ensure that the products bought with taxpayer dollars help benefit American and Illinois businesses and workers,” said Reitz. “Overseas companies are taking American manufacturing opportunities and hurting our economy, and the symbol of our state should only be purchased for state use when it helps support jobs at home.”
As a part of his commitment to building up the Illinois economy, Reitz is backing House Bill 3469, which would prioritize the domestic manufacturing of Illinois State flags by requiring public institutions and agencies to only buy state flags made in America. This legislation is designed to combat the growing trend of American manufacturing jobs moving overseas and more products being purchased by foreign companies.
“I’m committed to building a stronger Illinois with a thriving economy for our community, and jobs will be the foundation of that economy,” Reitz said. “By requiring that our state only purchase the flag that represents us made by Americans, we can help prevent valuable manufacturing prospects from being taken over by foreign companies.”
