LaPointe, Martwick Team Up to Co-Host Upcoming Women’s Self-Defense Class

CHICAGO – State Rep. Lindsey LaPointe, D-Chicago, is teaming up with Sen. Rob Martwick, D-Chicago, to co-host an upcoming Women’s Self-Defense Class. The class is free and open to the community. The event will take place on Friday, Feb. 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pope Francis Global Academy located at 6143 W. Irving Park Road.

“I think it’s incredibly important to help women feel empowered and confident in their everyday lives,” said LaPointe. “That is why I am so excited to co-host along with Sen. Martwick this upcoming Women’s Self-Defense Class with longtime martial arts Master, Jerry Weiss who has over 50 years of experience. While no one class can make anyone an expert, it is my hope that providing these resources can help empower community members.”

Parking will be made available and refreshments will be provided. This class will take place on Friday, Feb. 28 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Pope Francis Global Academy located at 6143 W. Irving Park Road.

“With this event, I hope we can encourage a deeper conversation around safety and self-empowerment,” LaPointe said. “I am grateful to Master Jerry Weiss for providing his knowledge and expertise for this class. These classes are so much more than just techniques for self-defense, they also provide a great way to engage in fitness and boost self-confidence.”
