CHICAGO – To help local residents gain more insight into the link between mental health and a healthy diet, state Rep. Fran Hurley, D-Chicago, is inviting the community to her upcoming Mental Health Monday focusing on nutritional health on March 23.

“Balanced nutrition and a healthy diet play a key role in our overall wellbeing. What you eat has a direct impact on how you feel day-to-day and when you eat better you often feel better,” said Hurley. “While nutrition is not the sole factor at play, eating a balanced diet can improve your mood, mental focus and clarity.”

Hurley is partnering with Rep. Kelly Burke, D-Oak Lawn, for all future Mental Health Monday events. They are inviting local residents to their upcoming Mental Health Monday event on Monday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. at Hurley’s district office, located at 10402 S. Western Ave. Nutritional expert Candice Cuevas, LCPC will discuss the benefits of good nutrition and the way diet coincides with mental wellbeing.

“We know that it is important to eat a nutritious, well-rounded diet because it directly impacts our physical health,” continued Hurley. “I look forward to discussing the ways nutrition also affects our mental health at our upcoming Mental Health Monday. We hope to see you there!”
