SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Michelle Mussman, D-Schaumburg, released the following statement after Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Budget address today:

“As lawmakers look to address the serious issues facing our state, it is vital that we come together to produce a budget that works for everyday people across the state. Tough decisions will need to be made in order to provide our state with a balanced budget, and I am committed to working for commonsense solutions to address the needs of our communities.

“In order to move Illinois forward, we must prioritize passing a budget that will pay down old bills while funding the critical services our families need and continuing to make full pension payments. We must also ensure our students receive quality education while providing real property tax relief for homeowners.

“The only way to produce a budget that works for Illinois residents is through honest collaboration on both sides of the aisle. I will continue to work diligently with my Democratic and Republican colleagues to produce a balanced budget that works for all Illinoisans.”
