SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Sam Yingling, D-Grayslake, released the following statement after Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s Budget Address on Wednesday:

“I am reminded frequently of how refreshing it is to hear from a governor who is willing to work with members of the General Assembly to help improve the lives of the middle-class families all across the state. Today’s address is a reminder that we must pay down our backlog of old bills and show fiscal responsibility to put our state back on the right financial path.

“I look forward to continuing to work with my Republican and Democratic colleagues to find common sense solutions to get Illinois on the right track. In order to deliver results to our state, it will come down to some tough decisions being made. I stand ready to make those decisions to help fully fund our schools to start providing tax relief to middle-class families in Illinois. Property tax relief starts with a balanced budget that prioritizes the services and needs that families and our children depend on.

“Through compromise and negotiation, we can deliver bipartisan, balanced results the people of Illinois deserve from their state government.”
