SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Kathleen Willis, D-Addison, issued the following statement detailing her commitment to putting Illinois’ families first after Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s second annual budget address:
“Governor Pritzker has been clear about the financial challenges facing Illinois from day one. During his first year in office, he demonstrated a willingness to work openly and cooperatively with Republicans and Democrats to move the state forward, having backed those efforts with real action.
“I am proud of the progress we have made bringing greater financial responsibility to state government by streamlining and improving agency budgets and operational efficiencies. We have also made significant progress to reinvigorate K-12 education, and I am delighted that the governor recognized Fenton High School in Bensenville as a premiere leader in public education.
“However, I acknowledge that tough decisions remain on how best to fund critical services, pay down old bills and provide meaningful property tax relief in the weeks and months ahead.”
“We have an opportunity to expand investment in our schools, expand critically-needed job training programs that create high-wage jobs and ensure residents have access to quality, affordable health care. I look forward to working with the governor and members on both sides of the aisle to deliver on on-time, balanced budget that strengthens our values and reflects our commitment to building a stronger Illinois.”
