DES PLAINES, Ill. – Showing sincere thanks and working to support the men and women serving in our military, state Rep. Marty Moylan, D-Des Plaines, is partnering with Help USA Troops to collect and send comfort and care packages to deployed troops around the world.
“I am very excited to become a part of such a noble cause, and would like to encourage all those who are able to make any donation they can, no matter how big or small,” Moylan said. “The courageous men and women protecting our freedom abroad deserve our deep gratitude and appreciation at home.”
Help USA Troops was started to honor troops of the past, present, and future in the memory of Lance Corporal James Bray Stack of the United States Marine Corps, who was killed in action on Nov. 10, 2010 serving in Afghanistan. The annual drive collects and ships personal hygiene items, food, snacks, powdered drinks, candy and gum, thank you cards, letters and other miscellaneous items that deployed troops have a need for. The 2020 drive begins March 1 and goes up until the sorting and packing days on April 25 and 26.
Moylan’s full time constituent office, located at 24 S. Des Plaines River Rd. in Des Plaines, will be accepting donations throughout the duration of the drive. Moylan has also reached out to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9284, located at 400 E. Devon in Elk Grove Village, and the American Legion Post 36, located at 1291 Oakwood Ave. in Des Plaines, and they too will be participating in the drive and accepting donations.
“Every donation helps acknowledge the tremendous sacrifices these brave men and women make,” Moylan said. “In this small way we can remind those men and women what they are fighting for and give them a small taste of home.”
