SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The St. Teresa High School volleyball team was recognized by state Rep. Sue Scherer, D-Decatur, in Springfield Wednesday for winning the 2A state championship.

“I was thrilled to have the opportunity to recognize the St. Teresa girls’ volleyball team as state champions earlier this week,” Scherer said. “This was particularly special for me since I graduated from St. Teresa High School.”

Scherer sponsored House Resolution 707, which formally honored the girls’ team from St. Teresa for their outstanding athletic performance as state champions. After highlighting their success on the House floor, Scherer presented the team with an official copy of the resolution acknowledging them as official 2A state champions.

“These girls are tremendous athletes with extraordinary athletic and academic careers ahead of them, and I couldn’t be more proud to have honored them for their recent success,” said Scherer. “I wish them all the best in their future endeavors.”
