SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – To celebrate the accomplishments of the West Chicago Community High School boys’ soccer team, state Rep. Karina Villa, D-West Chicago, welcomed the team to Springfield to highlight their state championship win.
“I am proud to see a group of young men from my hometown and a community I represent work hard and succeed,” said Villa. “Group sports and other activities are a great opportunity for students to make healthy habits and learn important skills they will use throughout life, like teamwork and leadership. I will continue working to ensure our schools receive the funding they deserve to continue fostering programs that benefit students and help them grow into well-rounded adults.”
The West Chicago Wildcats defeated the Morton West High School Mustangs in the state championship game in November. The Wildcats visited the state Capitol on Feb. 5.
