CHICAGO – Working to shine a light on the importance of mental health, state Rep. Lindsey LaPointe, D-Chicago, recently co-hosted with state Sen. Rob Martwick, D-Chicago, a Mental Health 101 Seminar with the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) at Wilbur Wright College to offer helpful resources and information for identifying and addressing mental health issues.

“A crucial step in helping our communities address mental health is removing the stigma and shame that is commonly associated with this issue,” LaPointe said. “I am so grateful to Sen. Martwick, Wilbur Wright College, and the Chicago chapter of the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) organization for helping coordinate this seminar. Above all else, I wanted to organize this event to provide a compassionate space where our community could come together to talk about issues relating to mental health.”
