SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Anna Moeller, D-Elgin, released the following statement in response to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s State of the State address on Wednesday:
“The coming months are an opportunity to tackle the issues facing our community. My first priority is a balanced, bipartisan budget that addresses the needs of all Illinoisans while funding critical programs, such as breast cancer screenings and domestic violence shelters, which help people who need it most.
“It is also critical that our community has access to more affordable healthcare. A crackdown on big pharmaceutical and insurance companies who exploit sick people for profit will cut back on prescription price hikes and programs that do not provide nearly enough coverage for people who need it.
“Practical job training is the foundation of a thriving economy, and more available education opportunities will help prepare the next generation for high-wage employment they can use to support their families. Lowering the property tax burden will lighten the load on new homeowners and middle-class families and help them purchase homes.
“I look forward to joining my colleagues and the governor to help enact these critical changes as we work together to build a stronger Illinois for all residents.”
