SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Nathan Reitz, D-Steelville, released the following statement in response to the governor’s State of the State address on Wednesday:

“The past year we saw great strides towards a better future for our community, and we are on the path to a stronger Illinois, but there is still a long way to go. Passing a bipartisan, balanced budget that prioritizes creating good-paying jobs and working with my colleagues to address the needs of hard-working families will be the foundation for a thriving economy.

“The next generation of Illinoisans deserve opportunities for more vocational and technical education to build the skills they need to support their families in a competitive job market. Protecting small businesses from out-of-state and foreign corporate competition and outsourcing keeps Illinois’ job market strong, and cutting unnecessary government regulations removes burdensome expenses that keep them from growing.

“My first priority will always be representing the interests and needs of the people in our community while working to create a better jobs market, develop more opportunities for practical education and build a more robust economy for this generation and those to come.”
