SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Dan Didech, D-Buffalo Grove, released the following statement in response to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s State of the State Address:
“Middle-class families and seniors are looking to us to rein in skyrocketing property taxes and hold self-serving politicians accountable. By working together over the past year, we have taken crucial first steps to provide immediate relief through annual property tax rebates and expanding exemptions for seniors and families. We have also begun the work of getting to the root of the problem by increasing efficiency and empowering taxpayers to consolidate duplicative units of local government.
“Just as important though, we must make it our top priority to restore faith in government by closing loopholes that have allowed bad actors to exploit the system at the expense of taxpayers. I welcome the governor’s goals for this legislative session and look forward to working together with Democrats and Republicans to continue building a stronger Illinois for the middle class.”
