SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Eva-Dina Delgado, D-Chicago, released the following statement in response to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s State of the State Address:
“Skyrocketing property taxes and rents are hurting middle-class and struggling families. Our schools need more resources. Prescription drugs costs are too high. These are the challenges facing our community, yet politicians are being charged with abusing their offices for personal gain. Working families need real change and I am committed to fight for solutions that will move our state forward.
“In order to build a stronger Illinois, we must make comprehensive ethics reforms a priority, so that we restore faith in government. In the coming weeks, I’ll be introducing legislation to prohibit elected officials from holding office while working as lobbyists, as well as new legislation cracking down on others who take industry jobs soon after leaving public office.
“While I recognize the progress that has been made, much more must be done to build an Illinois that puts the well-being of working families and seniors first.”
