SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – State Rep. Fred Crespo, D-Hoffman Estates, released the following statement in response to Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s State of the State Address:

“Over the past year, we have taken crucial first steps to get Illinois back on track. By working together with Democrats and Republicans we passed a balanced budget that pays down old bills and provides our local schools $350 million in new funding. We were also able to ensure people with diabetes are able to afford their insulin, and that seniors do not miss out on property tax exemptions.

“More work remains to be done in order to build a stronger Illinois for the middle class. I look forward to working with all of my colleagues to ensure nurses are able to provide our most vulnerable citizens the care they need; to ensure our local schools have the tools they need to educate our students; and to pass comprehensive ethics reform.
