NORTHBROOK, Ill. – Local residents had an opportunity to attend a community town hall Tuesday evening hosted by state Rep. Jonathan Carroll, D-Northbrook, and other area legislators held at Northbrook Public Library.
“One of the most important responsibilities of an elected official is to be accessible and openly accountable to the people we were elected to serve,” said Carroll. “Town halls serve as a constructive platform for us to hear directly from our constituents, particularly on issues that are important to them as well as our communities as a whole.”
Rep. Carroll was joined by several of his colleagues, including state Sens. Julie Morrison and Laura Fine, and fellow state Reps. Bob Morgan and Jennifer Gong-Gershowitz. The panel of legislators discussed their ongoing legislative priorities and answered questions from constituents.
“It is always reassuring to see engaged residents genuinely interested in the well-being of our communities,” Carroll said. “The more we can encourage and promote greater civic awareness and participation, the better we will be in representing the interests and priorities of the residents we strive to serve.”
