GURNEE, Ill. – State Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, partnered with the Illinois Human Rights Commission to host Join Joyce for Coffee and Conversation at Daisy’s Artish Cafe in Lake Villa on Saturday.

“Commissioner Barbara Barreno-Paschall shared a lot of helpful information about the Commission with residents. It was great to see members of our community learn about some of the lesser-known services our state provides,” Mason said. “In addition to the time residents spent speaking with Commissioner Barreno-Paschall, I heard a lot of constructive legislative feedback that I look forward to using when I’m back in the Capitol next week.”

Mason spent much of her first year in office fighting to expand human rights in Illinois. Mason voted to expand mental health resources on college campuses, tighten housing discrimination laws and make Illinois state forms more gender-inclusive.
