GURNEE, Ill. – Community members are invited to join state Rep. Joyce Mason, D-Gurnee, and the office of Illinois Comptroller Susana Mendoza for a New Year, New Resolutions Finance 101 Workshop from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 22 at Meeting Room B in the Zion-Benton Public Library in Zion.

“Trying to practice smart money management in a world filled with predatory lenders, purposefully confusing fine print and shady credit card offers can feel like a daunting task,” Mason said. “But even a basic understanding of personal finance can go a long way in building a better relationship with your bank account and protecting yourself from unnecessary financial harm.”

Mason’s New Year, New Resolutions Finance 101 Workshop is free and open to the public. A representative from the comptroller’s office will teach attendees about financial terminology, credit reports, debt management and budgeting. For additional information about the workshop, please contact Mason’s constituent service office by calling 847-485-9986 or emailing Info@RepJoyceMason.com.

“I’d like to thank the comptroller’s office for partnering with me to facilitate such an informative event,” Mason said. “And I hope the information presented at the workshop will help everyone in attendance enjoy a more fiscally responsible new year.”
