OTTAWA – To help residents save money on their utility bills, state Rep. Lance Yednock, D-Ottawa, is hosting a Utility Bill Clinic with the Citizens’ Utility Board (CUB) and a Homeowner Education Class with Habitat for Humanity in Ottawa.

“CUB is a vital organization and an incredible resource that we have in Illinois because they have helped many people save on their electricity, phone and water bills for over thirty years,” said Yednock. “I will continue to connect residents with helpful services that grant homeowners with more power over their pocketbook and ways to ensure they are not being subject to unneeded services or charges.”

Yednock’s seminar focuses on educating consumers about the latest energy policies in Illinois and how to spot errors on personal utility bills. Staff members from CUB will inform attendees about free programs designed to save energy while also saving money. Yednock is partnering with CUB to ensure residents are aware of the ways they can cut down on energy costs throughout the year.

“I want to make sure that I am giving those in my district a chance to not only have their utility bills reviewed, but to also hear about how legislation can impact their energy choices,” continued Yednock. “Illinois Valley residents should be informed about their energy providers and how organizations like CUB offer information and resources to homeowners to make them aware of the strengths and weaknesses of your utility provider.”
