CHICAGO – State Rep. Theresa Mah, D-Chicago, is announcing a new initiative to encourage healthy habits and regular exercise in the new year, which also provides gym-goers the opportunity to share with her their thoughts and concerns about state issues.

“Whether you’re a regular gym-goer or a fitness beginner, exercising consistently provides serious health benefits,” said Mah. “I’m committing to exercising at least once a week and hope to encourage others to come to the gym as well, so I want to use my workouts as another way to be accessible to the community.”

Mah’s “Work Out with your Rep.” initiative will continue every Monday from 7 to 8 a.m. at Blink Fitness, located at 3145 S. Ashland Ave. Residents are encouraged to join Mah for a workout or use the time to talk with her about any state issues or pending legislation. Those who do not have a membership can obtain a free trial pass at the Blink Fitness website.

“As we take on New Year’s resolutions and commit to new goals this month, “Work Out with your Rep.” offers residents the chance to improve their own health and fitness and their community at the same time,” said Mah. “I look forward to connecting with friends and neighbors at the gym and hearing their feedback to drive my legislative agenda in Springfield.”

Mah is serving her second term representing the 2nd District, which includes the Chicago neighborhoods of McKinley Park, Pilsen, Chinatown, Bridgeport, Brighton Park and Back of the Yards. For more information, please contact Mah’s district office at 872-281-5775.
