HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill. – State Rep. Fred Crespo, D-Hoffman Estates, recognized Hoffman Estates Police Department Officers Joshua Chlebanowski and Pat Patla for appropriately handling and reassuring local residents of their community’s values when responding to a heinous incident in which a family was being harassed for their ethnicity.

“I want to thank Officers Chlebanowski and Patla not just for ensuring the safety and well-being of our community but also for embodying its welcoming values,” Crespo said. “Nobody should ever go through what this local family went through, and I am grateful to our local police for holding the individual accountable.”

Crespo recognized the Hoffman Estates police officers at a Hoffman Estates Board of Trustees meeting this week. The officers responded to a disturbing call from a local family who was verbally and visually harassed outside a local grocery store. The officers handled the situation appropriately and showed great empathy toward the family, who contacted Crespo’s office to share their story and praise the police department’s handling of the incident.
