CHICAGO – State Rep. Camille Y. Lilly, D-Chicago, is inviting local religious leaders to give an invocation before the Illinois House of Representatives during the 2020 session.

“As a member of the Illinois House, I am honored each and every day of the legislative session to hear from local religious leaders across the state,” Lilly said. “The Illinois House welcomes blessings from all religions and I highly encourage any local religious leaders interested in giving an invocation to contact my office.”

Each day of the legislative session, a religious leader offers a brief invocation before the Illinois House of Representatives. Invocations are offered on a first-come, first-served basis and Lilly is encouraging local religious leaders interested in giving an invocation to contact her constituent service office by calling 708-613-5939 or by emailing StateRepCamilleYLilly@gmail.com.

“As leaders in our local community, I want religious leaders to be able to share their blessings and wisdom with officials from across Illinois by giving an invocation,” Lilly said. “The invocation is a symbol of the commitment our state has to religious freedom and it provides a way for all of us to come together in a moment of reflection before debating and voting on issues critical to building a stronger Illinois.”
