Slaughter Gets Into Holiday Spirit, Hosts Donation Drives for Families in Need

CHICAGO – To help bring holiday cheer to families in need, state Rep. Justin Slaughter, D-Chicago, is partnering with Metropolitan Family Services, Phalanx Family Services and Another Chance Church to host donation drives for food, toys and winter clothing.  

“As wonderful as the holiday season can be, not all families or children have access to the same resources to celebrate,” said Slaughter. “Partnering with local organizations and churches to collect toys, food and warm clothing can help provide a happier holiday season to those in need.”  

Slaughter will be collecting donations of toys and non-perishable food items until Monday, Dec. 23. Slaughter will also be collecting new or gently used hats, scarves, gloves, sweaters and winter coats until Monday, Jan. 6. All donations can be dropped off at his district office, located at 1234 W. 95th St. in Chicago, Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

“Everyone deserves to celebrate the holidays, but it’s a sad reality that not everyone can,” said Slaughter. “It is my hope that these drives can make the holidays a little brighter for those who don’t have as many resources as others.”
